North Stair Fireworks

Opening Ceremonies: February 1, 2019 at 6:30pm at the Marshland Centre located at 64 Hague Blvd., Lakefield. Join us at the opening ceremonies where Eastlink, our Presenting Corporate Sponsor, has kindly sponsored a fireworks show brought to you by North Star Fireworks Entertainment Inc!

Opening Ceremonies will begin at 6:30 PM with fireworks to follow. Stick around and join the Lakefield Trail on their annual Night Hike around the 

Eastlink

marsh after the fireworks. Derek & Sheila Potter will lead the hike and explore local wildlife. There will be 

lots of educational fun, stories and games! When the hike is over join us back at the beach for hot apple cider and a beach bonfire!

Snowman Challenge!

If you think you can build the best snowman in Selwyn Township, then we have a contest for you!

Make sure your snowman is ready for PolarFest weekend and take a picture of your awesome snowman and upload to Facebook, be sure add #snowmanchallenge #polarfest to your post. Don't have Facebook? No problem, email photo to tjacobs@selwyntownship.ca A prizee will be awarded to the best, most creative snowman!

Youth Shinny 9 am - 12 noon

$5.00 per person, full equipment is mandatory
9am-10am for ages 8 and under (Novice & Tyke)
10am-11am ages 9 to 11

Lakefield Trail Night Hike 7:20 pm
64 Hague Blvd. Marshland Centre, Lakefield
Join the Lakefield Trail Stewardship Committee for the Nature in Winter Guided Night Hike on the Lakefield Trail. Hikers will set out from the Marshland Centre at the Lakefield Beach. The hike returns to the beach where you will be welcomed by a toasty campfire for campfire songs with the Girl Guides, roast marshmallows and warm your insides with a cup of hot apple cider. Be sure to dress warmly and bring a flashlight.

Police vs Selwyn Firefighters in a friendly charity hockey game. $2.00 at the gate.

Lakefield Ice Sculpture

Ice Sculpture Competition and People's Choice Awards 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Cenotaph Park . Lakefield

New this year at the ice sculpture site from 12-4pm will be face painting brought to you by Oxford College Students!Lakefield is celebrating its 15th Anniversary of spectacular ice sculptures sponsored by the Lakefield Village Merchants. Cenotaph Park will sparkle with exquisite ice sculptures created by talented chefs. This years theme Mythical Woodland Creatures! Cast your ballot for the People's Choice Award and hang on to your ballot stub, it's a valuable discount coupon. Bring the children out and enjoy crafting statues out of ice provided for you in the ice garden. The People's Choice Award presented at the Thirsty Loon on Queen Street in Lakefield at 5:00 pm.

Polar 5km Fun Run 11:00 amPolar Run
Village Inn . Lakefield
Sign in at 10:30am, run starts at 11:00am
The run starts and finishes in front of the Village Inn in downtown Lakefield, takes you through the village and out and back on the Lakefield Trail for a total of 5km. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome. This is an old fashioned 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall for men and women, there is no chip timing. Awards ceremony and free post-race refreshments to follow.

Carvings will be on display throughout the township including Heritage Park in Bridgenorth

Bring the kids out and let them get creative with ice. Children are invited to create their own ice sculptures. Ice People will be on hand to offer instructions. Heritage Park in Bridgenorth.

Ontario Speed Skating Oval
Enjoy the great 

outdoors and experience a day of Nordic sports. Adventure Outfitters will be at the Ontario Speed Skating Oval with a selection of cross country skis and snowshoes available to the public. Try your hand at speed skating or take a trip around the oval property on groomed trails!

Polar Paddle 1:00 pm
Queen Street . Lakefield
Who would be crazy enough to paddle a canoe down the middle of a downtown street? We are! And we do it every year! Register a team or come out and watch as teams of six push or pull canoes down Queen Street in Lakefield. The canoes will be on wheels and participants will be dressed in costumes. Sponsored by the Lakefield Pantry.

Bridgenorth United Church Spaghetti Dinner 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Bridgenorth United Church at the Polarfest Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday February 2 which will include musical entertainment with guest musicians and singers! Dinner to be served from 5 PM through to 7 PM, the whole event being from 5 PM to 8 PM. Adults, $10, children 7 and under, $5.

Candlelight Skate 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Ontario Speed Skating Oval (next to the water tower).
Skating is Free and rental speed skates will be available. Bring a flashlight to guide your way down from the parking lot. The light from hundreds of candles will guide your way around the 400 metre Oval!

The Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Club of Canada will be at PolarFest again in 2019, this will be their 12th year! There will be a display of snowmobiles from days gone by at Rotary Park in Ennismore.
