Canadian Tire Jumpstart

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a registered charity that helps financially disadvantaged families across Canada in times of need. The Jumpstart program helps kids get involved in organized sports and recreational activities.

The Local Peterborough Chapter consists of several organizations committed to helping children and youth in our community with access to recreation and sport activities. With the support of the 2 local Canadian Tire Store Owners and five organizations administer funds for deserving families in our community.

Parasport Jumpstart Fund

The Parasport Jumpstart Fund is supported by the Government of Canada's Sport Support Program. This fund will help cover the cost of sports and recreational programs for children between the ages of 4 and 18, who are financially disadvantaged and living with a disability.

The fund supports the creation of a new program or the expansion of an existing successful initiative and may be used towards registration, transportation and equipment costs for children within approved parasport programs.

Just 4 Kics (Kids in Community Sports)

Just 4 Kics is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to help families overcome financial hurdles, allowing children between the ages of 5 and 8 to play a sport or recreational activity.

Just4kics will provide families with funding for registration, equipment and transportation fees that are necessary for them to enroll and participate in their chosen organized sport or recreational activity.

Hyundai Hockey Players

Hyundai Hockey Helpers was created to help families that cannot afford teh cost of equipment and league fees so more kids can play hockey. Hyundai Hockey Helpers is in partnership with KidSport.

Minor Hockey Foundation (MHF) Ontario

In 2000, the Minor Hockey Foundation (MHF) Ontario was created to support minor hockey players in the Province of Ontario. This program provides financial subsidy to minor hockey players who are currently experiencing difficulty raising enough funds to participate in the game.

Teachers for Kids Foundation 

Teachers for Kids provides support that will improve the social, emotional or physical well being of students. Funds are put towards things such as sports and club registrations, sports equipment, providing materials that could support a student's academic progress, and providing medical and personal needs.

Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity

The mission of the Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity is to improve the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. 

The Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity assists children who are seriously ill, have a permanent disability, are 21 years of age or under, and are permanent residents of Ontario or Landed Immigrant status.

Chevrolet's "Hockey Helmet" Program

The Chevrolet "Hockey Helmet" program provides every 5 year old player that registers with Hockey Canada, with a free Bauer hockey helmet. This program not only gets kids joining in the game in a new and safe helmet, but also provides financial relief to parents across the country.

Kids in Camp

This registered charity subsidizes camp experiences for children and youth. They provide assistance to families who are unable to send their children to camp.

The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) has partnered with KidSport to help students in Ontario overcome financial barriers that prevent them from participating in school sports. A maximum of $250.00 can be administered to a single student in the school year.

City and County of Peterborough - Social Services

Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program recipients are eligible for a $100 subsidy for each dependent child in a calendar year to participate in recreational or social activities.
