Lifetime Dog Licence
Dog Licence Application Form
The Township of Selwyn issues Lifetime Dog Licences for dogs.
Residents must purchase their Lifetime Dog Licence at the municipal office the first time, to obtain a Dog Tag bearing the Lifetime Dog Licence number. Each year thereafter, registered licenced dog owners will be invoiced annually and the Licence Number and Tag will be valid for the following year only upon receipt of payment.
Dog Licences are only available from the municipal office. They are not sold by outlying vendors.
All Dog Licences expire on December 31 of each year. Licences are $15.00 if purchased prior to March 31 of each year and $25.00 if purchased after March 31 each year. Tags which are lost or need to be replaced because of wear or damage may be purchased at the municipal office for $10.00.
No person shall permit a dog to run at large or that person shall be liable to a fine of up to $5,000 for each offence plus any applicable pound fees for maintaining the dog before it is recovered by the owner.
Every owner or person having the care and custody of an animal that is required to be immunized against rabies under Section 1 or Subsection 2 (1) of Health Promotion and Protection Act shall ensure that the animal is re-immunized against rabies by the date specified on the certificate of immunization with respect to the animal.
The Township also enforces a Stoop and Scoop By-law. All dog owners must remove any feces left by their dog on any property other than their own property. Failure to comply with dog regulations can result in a maximum fine of $5000.00.
