The role of the Smith-Ennismore Police Services Board is to advise the O.P.P. with respect to policing services for the Wards of Smith & Ennismore in Selwyn Township. Smith-Ennismore Police Services Board Procedural By-law # 2009-1.

The Board generally makes recommendations on objectives and priorities for police services and works with the O.P.P. and the Community Policing Volunteers in responding to the safety and security of the community.

In 2019 the Board updated the O.P.P. Flase Alarm By-law which is a By-law created to Reduce False Alarms that Require the Deployment of Police Resources within the Smith and Ennismore Wards of the Municipality of Selwyn.

Traffic issues are a major concern for our neighbourhood residents and are one of the most frequent types of citizen complaints received by the the Smith-Ennismore Police Services Board. In 2020 the Board released a Speed Awareness Policy to help in reducing the speeding by motorists on the roadways in the Wards of Smith and Ennismore, in the Township of Selwyn.

The Board is comprised of one Council representative, one representative appointed by the Province and one member from the community at large.
