Whereas the Township of Selwyn Economic Development and Business Committee (EDBC) is aware that the County of Peterborough is undertaking a Schedule "C" Class Environmental Assessment to study alternatives for the widening of Ward Street in Bridgenorth from Champlain Road to the James Gifford Causeway; and

Whereas the EDBC is also aware that the County of Peterborough has also initiated a study to update the Environmental Assessment for the Bridgenorth By-pass/Causeway Link; and

Whereas the businesses in Bridgenorth have expressed concerns about the effects that the By-pass/Ward Street widening may have on traffic and ultimately on their businesses;

Whereas the EDBC, through its Terms of Reference, has a mandate to create opportunities, maintain economic activity and promote job creation.

Be it resolved that the EDBC recommend that the Council of the Township of Selwyn request that the County of Peterborough conduct the Ward Street Widening Environmental Assessment as a priority project in order for all stakeholders, including the businesses in Bridgenorth, to fully understand traffic impacts that the widening may have in relation to the Bridgenorth By-pass/Causeway Link project.
