Correspondence for Direction:

That the following items of correspondence be received for information and that staff proceed with the recommended direction therein:

1. Cannabis Sales – AMO Alert 1 and AMO Alert 2


That the various items of correspondence related to the retail sale of cannabis in Ontario be received for information; and

Whereas staff will be attending upcoming training sessions related to the regulation of retail cannabis sales as well as meeting with the local Medical Officer of Public Health; and

Whereas the Province of Ontario has announced that the Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) will licence and regulate cannabis sales at retail locations; and

Whereas Municipal Councils can opt in or opt out of permitting cannabis sales in their communities and that should a Council wish to opt out they must make a decision by January 22, 2019; and

That staff provide a report at the December 11, 2018 Council meeting outlining various considerations for retail cannabis sales.
