Program Information

The day-use permit lending program runs from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 which aligns with the valid dates of the day-use vehicle permits. These permits will provide complimentary day-use access for one vehicle and its occupants at more than 100 provincial parks where fees are normally charged.

  • The Parks Pass has a one-week lending period. 
  • An overdue Parks Pass will have a late fine of $1/day. 
  • Patrons are welcome to place a hold on a Parks Pass via our online catalogue (Search for Parks Pass).

One $5 off your next daily vehicle permit at Ontario Parks coupon will be included each time a day-use permit is loaned to a patron until supplies last. Patrons are also welcome to request one at the circulation desk while supplies last.

Q:   Why is Ontario Parks offering a day-use vehicle permit lending program through libraries?

A:    Ontario Parks has partnered with individual libraries for the past five years to loan annual day-use permits to their patrons. Based on the success of these initial partnerships, Ontario Parks is expanding the opportunity to all publicly funded libraries in Ontario.

The motivation behind this program is to help Ontarians spend more time in nature. A wide body of research supports the idea that time spent in nature has significant benefits for our mental and physical health. Visit their Healthy Parks Healthy People program website for more information.

Ontario Parks is committed to making our provincial parks more accessible. This program is one way they are helping more Ontarians to get outside and enjoy their local provincial park.

Q:   How many Day-Use Vehicle Permits does each library location have? 

A:    Each library location (Bridgenorth, Ennismore, & Lakefield) has 3 Parks Pass permits.

Q:   When does the program begin?

A:    For 2021, the permits supplied are valid from January 1 to December 31, 2021. Please note that passes will only be available in accordance to current COVID 19 regulations and protocol. If Ontario Parks are closed due to Ontario COVID regulations, Parks Passes will not be available.  

Q:   How long can Parks Passes be loaned to patrons?

A:    Parks Passes have a loan period of 1 week.

Q:   How many times can one person borrow a day-use vehicle permit?

A:    The number of loans per patron is a maximum of one loan per patron per year. *Depending on availability and popularity exceptions can be made by library staff.

Q:   Are the day-use vehicle permits valid at all provincial parks? / Who can use them?

A:    Parks Pass permits provide unlimited day-use access for one vehicle and its occupants to all provincial parks in Ontario where fees are normally charged. Park capacity limitations will apply. COVID restrictions will apply when necessary. The permits must be displayed on the rear-view mirror or dashboard of the vehicle while it is in a park.
