PolarFest is an exciting family festival, offering something for everyone to enjoy! A weekend full of laughter, friendly competition and the enjoyment of winter.

Choose from activities for the young and the young at heart, including:

  • Opening Ceremony with fireworks display
  • Snowman Building Challenge
  • Candlelight Skate
  • Ice Carvings
  • For the very brave - the virtual BEL Rotary Polar Plunge!

Snowman Challenge (Until February 6)

Snowman Challenge Poster

If you think you can build the best snowman in Selwyn Township, then the Snowman Challenge is for you! A prize will be awarded to the best, most creative snowman!

Make sure your snowman is ready for PolarFest weekend and take a picture of your awesome snowman and upload to Facebook. Be sure add #snowmanchallenge and #polarfest to your post.

Don't have Facebook? No problem, email photo to the Parks & Recreation Department.

Virtual Polar Plunge (From February 6 to 13)

Even COVID-19 can't stop us from "Freezin for a Reason." Join BEL Rotary virtually for the 42nd Annual Polar Plunge!

From Sunday February 6 to 13, 2022, plunge at home and send in your video! This year's theme is "Back to the Plunge".

Opening Ceremony (7:30PM)

Location: Lakeside at Chemong Lodge - 764 Hunter Street, Bridgenorth

Candlelight Skate (SOLD OUT)

Location: Ontario Speed Skating Oval - 3358 Lakefield Road, Lakefield

Hundreds of lights will guide your way around the 400 metre Oval!

Two time slots to choose from and only 100 tickets available for each time slot.

  • 5:30PM to 7:00PM; and
  • 7:30PM to 9:00PM

Cost:

  • Adults: $10
  • Children (ages 12 & under): $5

*Speed skates available for rent for $5.

*Bring a flashlight to guide your way down from the parking lot.

Register for your skate time through the Ontario Speed Skating Oval website.

Location: Causeway Christian Assembly - 1307 Yankee Line, Ennismore

Join Causeway Christian Assembly for a drive-thru Pancake Breakfast. Pick up available from 9:00AM to 11:00AM.

Ice Sculpture Show (beginning 9:00AM)

Location: Cenotaph Park - Intersection of Bridge Street & Water Street, Lakefield

Cenotaph Park will sparkle with exquisite ice sculptures by talented sculptors. Bring the family out and enjoy the ice sculptures - they are sure to amaze!

Ice People Ice Sculptures (beginning 9:00AM)

Location: Heritage Park - 804 Ward Street, Bridgenorth

The Ice People of the Bridgenorth, Ennismore and Lakefield area remove ice from Chemong Lake to carve beautiful ice sculptures that are placed in Heritage Park.

Who Are The Ice People?

The Ice People is a not for profit community organization whose members work as volunteers. Their goal is to better the community festivals and enhance the beauty of Selwyn Township. Although the group raises funds to grow and improve their events, all the extra funds are returned to local charities.

Interested in being a carver? 

We have a block of ice for you! We assign a block of ice per carver in advance, so sign up for yours today by emailing nicolevanstone@gmail.com

Amateur and Professional Carvers Welcome! All carvers must bring their own tools and safety gear and sign a Waiver Form

Nordic Day (12 Noon to 3:00PM)

Location: Ontario Speed Skating Oval - 3358 Lakefield Road, Lakefield

Adventure Outfitters of Lakefield will be providing those interested the opportunity to experience a variety of Nordic Winter Sports.

Stop by Adventure Outfitters - 1828 8th Line Smith, Lakefield, for cross-country skis or snow shoes, then head to the Ontario Speed Skating Oval and enjoy the trail adjacent to the Oval site.

*Reserve equipment ahead of time by calling Adventure Outfitters at 705-652-7986.

Drive-Thru Spaghetti Dinner (5:00PM to 7:00PM)

Location: Bridgenorth United Church - 832 Charles Street, Bridgenorth

Join Bridgenorth United Church for a drive-thru PolarFest Spaghetti Dinner. Pick up available from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. Call 705-292-9601 to reserve your pickup time slot and order your meals.

Cost: $12/person. Children 5 years of age and under: FREE

The take-out dinner includes:

  • Spaghetti with tomato or meat sauce
  • Dinner roll with butter
  • Lettuce salad with vinaigrette
  • Cookie or square
