Circular Economy in Selwyn Township

Selwyn Township is working with partners across Peterborough County to support a shift toward a circular economy, an approach that reduces waste and makes better use of the resources we already have.

A circular economy focuses on keeping products and materials in use for as long as possible. Rather than throwing items away, it encourages practices like sharing, repairing, reusing, and recycling. This helps conserve natural resources, reduce environmental impacts, and support a more sustainable local economy.

Businesses play an important role by choosing products that are durable, repairable, and made from recyclable or renewable materials. Residents can contribute by making thoughtful purchasing decisions and taking advantage of opportunities in the community to repair, reuse, and recycle everyday items.

Together, these actions help reduce waste and build a more sustainable future for our community.
