Flood Watch issued for the Trent Severn-Waterway
Recent rain and warm temperatures have triggered spring freshet conditions in the Haliburton-Reservoir Lakes region, resulting in rising water levels and flows on the hydrologically connected Trent-Severn Waterway within the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation. Water levels and flows are expected to continue increasing during the next seven days. As a result, flooding is possible, particularly in low-lying areas. Increased water levels and flows are also expected to break up remaining ice.
Half Load Restrictions
Half-load restrictions in the Township of Selwyn will begin Sunday, March 1, 2026.
To protect our road network during the spring thaw, half-load restrictions are implemented annually beginning March 1, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. These measures help prevent road damage when municipal roads are most vulnerable to heavy vehicle traffic.
During this period, vehicles are limited to a maximum of 5 tonnes per axle, and truck and commercial transport access may be restricted in affected areas.
Restrictions remain in effect until April 30, 2026, unless otherwise announced.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to preserve our roads.
