    The Township of Selwyn is pleased to announce an upcoming senior staff transition, marking both the retirement of a long-serving municipal leader and the appointment of a new Chief Administrative Officer.

  • Lakefield Campground Now Accepting 2026 Bookings

    The Township of Selwyn is pleased to announce that bookings are now open for the 2026 camping season at the Lakefield Campground. 

    Following the Township’s transition to in-house management of the campground in November 2025, staff have been preparing for the upcoming season and are excited to welcome campers back. Transient tent and trailer campsites are now available for reservation through the Let’s Camp online booking system.

  • Ontario Investing $1,378,504 for Critical Water Infrastructure in the Township of Selwyn

    Today, MPP Dave Smith announced the Ontario government is investing up to $1,378,504 to rehabilitate water infrastructure in the Township of Selwyn the funding comes from the province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS), which has increased by $700 million for a total of $875 million to support access to safe drinking water, housing, job creation and protection for communities in the event of extreme weather events.

  • Public Notice: Building By-law Fee Review

    The Township of Selwyn proposes to enact a By-law to change Building Permit fees by modifying the fee schedule, adding new fees, and to incorporate a Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase of 2.1% effective March 1st, 2026. This By-law will be considered at the regular Council meeting scheduled on February 24th, 2026. The public meeting commences at 1 :00 PM and will be held in the Council Chambers, 1310 Centre Line, Selwyn, ON.

  • Changes Coming to the Blue Bin Recycling Program for Non-Eligible Sources– Effective January 1, 2026

    As mandated by the Province of Ontario, curbside recycling collection will no longer be provided for Non-Eligible Source (NES) properties.

    Effective January 1, 2026, Non-Eligible Sources (NES) such as businesses, places of worship, municipal buildings, daycares, commercial farms, charities, campgrounds, and trailer parks will no longer receive curbside recycling collection.

    Instead of blue box collection, these NES generators will be responsible for establishing and managing their own recycling.

    Please note: Residential properties will continue to receive curbside recycling collection.

  • Collaboration Across Peterborough County Brings the First of ‘The Kawarthas Quest’ to Life

    Peterborough County Economic Development and Tourism, together with each township, has been working collaboratively on an innovative new program to support local small businesses, strengthen tourism, and showcase the unique character of our communities. The result is The Kawarthas Quest - a fun and 
    engaging series of community-based experiences that will roll out across the County over the next few months. This app-based initiative will drive foot traffic into retail storefronts. Participants will use the Driftscape app or website to discover new locations and different activities across the County.

    The very first adventure launches in partnership with the Township of Selwyn: the Lakefield Scavenger Hunt. This interactive event invites both residents and visitors to journey through downtown Lakefield, discover its vibrant small businesses, and experience the community in a whole new way. Built together by Selwyn Township and Peterborough County Economic Development, the Lakefield Scavenger Hunt sets the 
    stage for future adventures across the region.
