Ennismore Community Centre Arena Officially Re-Opens Following Major Renewal Project
The Township of Selwyn celebrated the grand re-opening of the arena at the Ennismore Community Centre today, marking the completion of a major renewal project that will help ensure the facility continues to serve the community for years to come.
The grand re-opening brought together residents, community members, local officials and project partners to celebrate the renewed arena. The event included remarks from MPP Dave Smith, Nancy Clark, Director of External Relations for Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) and Township of Selwyn Mayor Sherry Senis, followed by a FREE public skate.
The project included the replacement of the arena’s 54-year-old, 180-foot by 80-foot concrete slab floor, along with the refrigeration piping and ice rink chiller. These significant upgrades are essential to ensuring the arena’s long-term viability and continued ability to serve sporting groups, youth leagues, recreational skaters and community organizations.
“Our local arenas are where young athletes learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience—lessons that stay with them long after they step off the ice. By investing nearly $1 million through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, our government is ensuring that local players and families have a modern, reliable space to compete with pride and grow together.

The project was made possible through a contribution from Hydro One through the Durham Kawartha Power Line Project and Selwyn Community Investment; and a $931,750 investment from the Ontario Government’s Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF).
