Easter Holiday - Waste Collection Changes

Please note the following schedule changes for the Easter holiday weekend:

Good Friday (April 3rd):

  • Garbage and green waste collection moves to Saturday, April 4th
  • No change to recycling collection

Easter Monday (April 6):

  • No change to garbage or recycling collection. Please have all items to the curb by 7:00 AM to ensure collection.

Half Load Restrictions

Half-load restrictions in the Township of Selwyn will begin Sunday, March 1, 2026.

To protect our road network during the spring thaw, half-load restrictions are implemented annually beginning March 1, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. These measures help prevent road damage when municipal roads are most vulnerable to heavy vehicle traffic. 

During this period, vehicles are limited to a maximum of 5 tonnes per axle, and truck and commercial transport access may be restricted in affected areas. 

Restrictions remain in effect until April 30, 2026, unless otherwise announced.

Request for Proposal

A Request for Proposal (RFP) is a bid submitted to the Township through a formal, public invitation to suppliers to provide goods or services where it is not practical to prepare precise specifications, or where "alternatives" to specifications will be considered. The RFP process allows suppliers to propose solutions to arrive at the end product, and allows for evaluation on criteria other than price to ensure that competition for the use of public money is open, fair and free from any parties having an unfair advantage of separate, prior, closed-door negotiations for the contract.

Request for Quotation

A Request for Quotation (RFQ) is a bid submitted to the Township, by suppliers, in response to a request for quotation on a specific product or service.

Tender

A tender is a bid submitted to the Township through a formal, public invitation to suppliers for the supply of products or services to ensure that competition for the use of public money is open, fair and free from any parties having an unfair advantage of separate, prior, closed door negotiations for the contract.

The Township of Selwyn is requesting tenders for the recommissioning and upgrades to the George Street Water & Wastewater Infrastructure through the Biddingo Website.

Tax Sales

There are no current tax sales.

If property taxes remain unpaid for three or more years, the Municipal Tax Sales Act provides for the sale of the property.

The Township offers an Arrears Management Pre-Authorized Payment Plan as an option to develop a property tax payment program that can help you keep your property out of a position of tax sale.
