Notice of Public Information Centre

In 2027, the Otonabee River Bridge and the Trent Canal Bridge are scheduled to undergo structural
rehabilitations. Due to the bridges proximity to each other, they will be completed at the same time,
and the work zone will be from Caroline Street to Water Street in Lakefield, ON. The rehabilitation will
address the ongoing structural issues with concrete elements and provide improvements to the road
surface to extend the useful life of the bridge.

Peterborough County has retained D.M. Wills to complete the design and construction administration
for these bridges.

Scope of Work

• Asphalt pavement replacement
• Bridge deck concrete patching
• Bridge deck joint repairs
• Sidewalk and railing replacement
• Retaining wall repair

This project is being completed in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule A+
(Exempt) projects, as outlined in the 2024 MCEA User Guide. Exempt projects are classified as lowrisk
infrastructure activities and do not require the same consultation requirements as other projects.
Although not required, the County has elected to emulate the MCEA communication process to keep
the public informed.

As part of this project, the County will provide project information to the public, community
stakeholders, Indigenous communities, business owners, and agencies.

The consultant has completed the design for the bridge rehabilitations and will share project details
and progress at a Public Information Centre (PIC).

The PIC has been scheduled as follows:
