2026 Lakefield Trail Events

Meet the NEW trail committee in Isabel Morris Park (20 Concession Street, Lakefield) Saturday morning at 10:00 am to grab gloves, bags and a nature scavenger hunt activity for younger trail enthusiasts. You will be assigned a portion of the trail to walk and collect any refuse you find.

We’ll reconvene in Isobel Morris Park at 12 Noon to see what nature treasures have been found in the scavenger hunt, and to gather the bags of litter.

Meet Sheila Potter, local environmental educator, to go exploring along the edge of the Marsh, on one of the most biodiverse sections of our Lakefield Trail! We’ll meet outside the Marshland Center (64 Hague Boulevard, Lakefield)  and depart at 9:00 am.

We’ll look for birds, bugs, and may even dip some nets into the water to see what is swimming under the surface. You’ll need to dress for the weather, and wear your rubber boots. Sheila will provide nets, buckets, binoculars and magnifiers for getting a closer look at whatever we find.

Trail Programs

Benches and trees along the Trail make you feel welcome and enhance the overall trail experience for everyone. The Trail isn't just a way to get from here to there, but a place to be; a place to take a moment and reflect on the history of the Village of Lakefield and those who helped make it the vibrant community that it is today.

Memorial Tree Program

If you wish to mark a special occasion or celebration, to honour someone special or to create a lasting memory of a loved one, you can arrange to have a Memorial Tree placed along the Trail, usually in the location of your choice. A plaque with the donor's name and an inscription is placed with the Tree.

For more information, contact the Selwyn Township Parks & Recreation Department at 705-292-9507 ext. 243 or email recreation@selwyntownship.ca.
