Update: Christmas Tree Disposal Through Peterborough County

Reminder: There is no curbside collection of Christmas trees in the County of Peterborough.


You can drop off your tree free-of charge during daylight hours the Peterborough County Douro Depot (713 County Road 4) until January 11th, 2026. 


Please Note: Peterborough County will NOT be accepting trees at any of their other depots (including the Centre Line Depot). 


Please remove all decorations, tree stands, and bags or nets. Artificial trees are not accepted.


Alternatively, trees can be disposed of at the Smith Landfill (1480 County Road 18) – tipping fees apply. 

Holiday Hours & Information

The Municipal Office (1310 Centre Line) will be CLOSED at 12:00PM on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025 and will return to regular operating hours on Friday, January 2nd, 2026 at 8:30 AM. Building inspections will not be available from December 24th to January 1st.

The Smith Landfill (1480 County Road 18) with be CLOSED on Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day.

Changes Coming to the Blue Bin Recycling Program for Non-Eligible Sources– Effective January 1, 2026

As mandated by the Province of Ontario, curbside recycling collection will no longer be provided for Non-Eligible Source (NES) properties.

Industrial, Commercial, Institutional Properties and Other Non-Eligible Sources:

Effective January 1, 2026, Non-Eligible Sources such as businesses, places of worship, municipal buildings, daycares, commercial farms, charities, campgrounds, and trailer parks will no longer receive curbside recycling collection.

Instead of blue box collection, these Non-Eligible Source generators will be responsible for establishing and managing their own recycling.

Please note: Residential properties will continue to receive curbside recycling collection.

  • Material Recycling Facility (390 Pido Road, Peterborough)
