Holiday Changes and Information
Garbage and Recycling Collection
Garbage/Green Waste:
- Thursday, December 25th collection moves to Friday, December 26th.
- Friday, December 26th collection moves to Saturday, December 27th (including green waste).
- Thursday, January 1st collection moves to Friday, January 2nd.
- Friday, January 2nd collection moves to Saturday, January 3rd (including green waste).
Note:
- Friday, December 26, 2025 - Due to road conditions, some roads may not have received collection. Affected roads include Lindsay Road, and all roads off Fifes Bay Road, Parkhill Road, Lily Lake Road and Fairbairn Street. Double will be collected next week.
- Monday, December 29, 2025 - Due to road conditions, garbage collection was cancelled. Double will be collected next week.
Recycling:
- Thursday, December 25th collection is CANCELLED. Please hold recycling until Saturday, December 27th.
- Thursday, January 1st collection is CANCELLED. Please hold recycling until Saturday, January 3rd.
The Link Holiday Bus Schedule
Please be advised of the following holiday schedule changes for The Link Bus. Riders are encouraged to make travel plans accordingly. The Link will operate as normal outside of these dates.
- Wednesday, December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve) – Service will end at 8:30pm
- Thursday, December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day) – No Service
- Friday, December 26, 2025 (Boxing Day) – No Service
- Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (New Year’s Eve) – Service will end at 8:30pm
- Thursday, January 1, 2026 (New Year’s Day) – No Service
Holiday Hours – Administrative Office
The Municipal Office (1310 Centre Line) will be CLOSED at 12:00PM on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025, and will return to regular operating hours on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, at 8:30 AM. Building inspections will not be available from December 24th to January 1st.
Holiday Hours – Smith Landfill
The Smith Landfill (1480 County Road 18) with be CLOSED on Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day.
Christmas Tree Disposal
No curbside collection of Christmas trees throughout the County of Peterborough.
Real trees can be dropped off free-of-charge during daylight hours at the Peterborough County Douro Depot (713 County Road 4) until January 11th, 2026. (Note: Peterborough County will NOT be accepting trees at any of other depots).
Please remove all decorations, tree stands, and bags or nets. Artificial trees are not accepted.
Alternatively, trees can be disposed of at the Smith Landfill (1480 County Road 18) – tipping fees apply.
