Public Information Centre 2
Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2026
Location: Lakefield-Smith Community Centre, 20 Concession Street, Lakefield
Time: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM (Drop In only)
Study Overview:
Peterborough County (County) is undertaking a Transportation Master Plan (TMP) Study for the
Lakefield Area Road Network. This study will assess transportation infrastructure needs and
deficiencies and identify the infrastructure improvements required to accommodate growth in the
community of Lakefield. As part of this study, the County is also exploring the potential location for a
second crossing of the Otonabee River, as recommended in the 2022 TMP Update. If justified, the
findings of this study will recommend a corridor to protect to support longer-term planning. Please
refer to approximate study area limits shown on the key plan.
Study Process:
This study is being undertaken in accordance with Approach #1 of the Master Planning Process, as
outlined in Section A.2.7 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) document
(2024). As such, the TMP for the Lakefield area will generally address Phases 1 and 2 of the MCEA
process.
Study Consultation:
As part of this study, a comprehensive consultation process is being undertaken to gather comments
from the public, community stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and agencies. The first Public
Information Centre (PIC) for this study was held on October 28, 2025, to present and gather feedback
on the study background and existing conditions, alternative solutions, preliminary potential locations
for a second crossing of the Otonabee River, and to present the next steps in the study process.
The second PIC has been arranged to share the feedback received at and following PIC 1 and to
present and gather feedback on the findings of technical and environmental reviews, recommended
road network improvements, evaluation of alternative Otonabee River crossing alignments,
conceptual design of a second crossing, and next steps in the study process. Members of the study
team will be present to discuss the study with you and answer any questions you may have.
A copy of the information to be displayed at the in-person event will be available for review
and comment on the study webpage ENGAGE Ptbo County on Wednesday, May 20th.
Please visit the study webpage for more information about the study or to sign up for study updates.
