Public Notice: Building By-law Fee Review

Whereas Section 7 of the Building Code Act, S.O. 1992, C.23, as amended authorizes a municipal Council to pass By-laws respecting the issuance of permits and related matters;

And Whereas Section 7 (6) (a) and 7 (6) (b) requires the Municipality to give notice of the proposed changes in fees and to hold a public meeting concerning the proposed changes;

Now therefore the Township of Selwyn proposes to enact a By-law to change Building Permit fees by modifying the fee schedule, adding new fees, and to incorporate a Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase of 2.1% effective March 1st, 2026. This By-law will be considered at the regular Council meeting scheduled on February 24th, 2026. The public meeting commences at 1 :00 PM and will be held in the Council Chambers, 1310 Centre Line, Selwyn, ON.

Participation in the Public Meeting
Any person may attend the public meeting, either in-person or virtually, and make written and/or oral submissions either in support or opposition to the proposal. In order to make arrangements to attend virtually please contact the Clerk by email at achittick@selwyntownship.ca no later than 4:00 PM on the day prior to the scheduled public meeting. It is the responsibility of those interested in attending virtually to have the technology in place to connect to the meeting.
