Flood Watch for the Trent Severn-Waterway

A Flood Watch is in effect for the Trent-Severn Waterway within the Otonabee Region watershed. Recent warmer temperatures and precipitation in the Haliburton-Reservoir Lakes area have caused a significant increase in water runoff, leading to higher flows in rivers and streams that drain south into the Kawartha Lakes and Otonabee River. As a result, there is potential for nuisance to minor-level flooding of low-lying, flood vulnerable areas, starting this week and continuing through next week.

Residents are reminded to stay away from shorelines, and off the ice due to unsafe conditions.

Easter Holiday - Waste Collection Changes

Please note the following schedule changes for the Easter holiday weekend:

Good Friday (April 3rd):

  • Garbage and green waste collection moves to Saturday, April 4th.
  • No change to recycling collection.

Easter Monday (April 6th):

  • No change to garbage or recycling collection. Please have all items to the curb by 7:00 AM to ensure collection.

Half Load Restrictions

Half-load restrictions in the Township of Selwyn will begin Sunday, March 1, 2026.

To protect our road network during the spring thaw, half-load restrictions are implemented annually beginning March 1, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. These measures help prevent road damage when municipal roads are most vulnerable to heavy vehicle traffic. 

During this period, vehicles are limited to a maximum of 5 tonnes per axle, and truck and commercial transport access may be restricted in affected areas. 

Restrictions remain in effect until April 30, 2026, unless otherwise announced.

Route 31: Curve Lake - Lakefield

Route Description and Planner

Route 31 operates on weekdays only. There is no service on statutory holidays.

Route 31 is direct service between Curve Lake - Mississauga at Chemong and Trent University - Bata Library. It travels along Mississauga Street, Curve Lake Road (County Road 22), Buckhorn Road (County Road 23), 8th Line (County Road 18), Lakefield Road/Bridge Street (County Road 29), Water Street (County Road 32), Concession Street, Queen Street (County Road 29), Lakefield Road/Bridge Street (County Road 29), Woodland Drive, and West Bank Drive.
