Changes to the Province-wide Recycling Program

As of January 1, 2025

  • Circular Materials of Ontario (CMO) manages recycling services throughout Peterborough County.
  • Peterborough County is no longer responsible for recycling.

As of January 1, 2026

  • Circular Materials of Ontario (CMO) manages recycling services throughout Ontario.
  • New items will be accepted for recycling Province-wide.
  • Non-Eligible Sources (NES) no longer receive curbside recycling collection, including industrial, commercial and institutional properties.

Please note: Residential properties will continue to receive curbside recycling collection.

Candidate Nomination

To run for the office of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor or School Board Trustee you must file a Nomination Paper

  • Until you file a Nomination Paper, you cannot raise or spend any money on your campaign.
  • Candidates running for the position of Mayor, Deputy Mayor or Councillor must also provide at least 25 endorsement signatures from eligible electors using the prescribed form

Nomination papers can be filed from May 1 to August 21, 2026 between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) has an online course, which is geared to individuals who are planning to run for a seat on municipal council.
