A multi-day heat event is expected, with daytime temperatures of 34-36°C and humidex values in the low-to-mid-40s. Please take steps to stay safe. 

Cooling/heat relief locations are available:

  • Marshland Centre (64 Hague Boulevard, Lakefield)
    • Wednesday, July 1 through Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Lakefield United Church (47 Regent Street, Lakefield)
    • Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Selwyn Public Library branches in Bridgenorth, Ennismore and Lakefield (visit the Selwyn Public Library website for hours of operation)
  • Selwyn Township public beaches

Water Restrictions in Effect for Lakefield & Woodland Acres

Each year, we ask you to follow lawn watering restrictions to ensure there is enough water for everyone. Non-compliance may result in a $50 surcharge on your water bill under By-Law 2010-045.

Notice: Ennismore Arena

Construction at the Ennismore Community Centre arena will take place from April to September 2026.

Work includes replacing the arena floor and upgrading key equipment to keep the facility operating for years to come, thanks to the province’s Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF).

The upper level remains available for rent, but construction noise may be heard during work hours.

Lakefield-Smith Community Centre

20 Concession Street, Lakefield

Home to the Lakefield Chiefs Jr. C hockey team, the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre features one sheet of ice in the winter. In the summer, the Centre is used for summer day camps, trade shows, product shows, concerts and special events. 

The Niels Pind Room, located on the upper level, has a capacity of 120, and can be rented for meetings, and gatherings of all kinds with a bar option available.

  • Weekdays from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Weekends from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM

Non-Prime Rate $159.99 per hour

  • Weekdays from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM & 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • Weekends from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM & 11:00 PM to Midnight

Day Rate $112.35 per hour

  • Weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
