Total Burn Ban in Effect!

Due to increased fire risk from dry weather and high temperatures, the Selwyn Fire Department has issued a Total Burn Ban, effective immediately until further notice. All burn permits are now void.

Prohibited:
• Yard waste and brush burning
• Campfires and bonfires
• Outdoor fireplaces, fire pits and chimineas
• Agricultural burns
• Fireworks

Burning conditions can change at any time. Residents must verify the current conditions prior to burning. To do this, please call the Fire Department at 705-292-7282 or check Facebook.

Ennismore Community Centre

553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

Located at Robert E. Young Recreation Complex, the Ennismore Community Centre features one sheet of ice in the winter. In the summer, the Centre is used for summer day camps, trade shows and special events.

The Ennismore Auditorium, located on the upper level, has a capacity of 200, and can be rented for gatherings of all kinds with a bar option available.

Lakefield-Smith Community Centre

20 Concession Street, Lakefield

Home to the Lakefield Chiefs Jr. C hockey team, the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre features one sheet of ice in the winter. In the summer, the Centre is used for summer day camps, trade shows, product shows, concerts and special events. 

The Niels Pind Room, located on the upper level, has a capacity of 120, and can be rented for meetings, and gatherings of all kinds with a bar option available.

Public Skating Schedule

Our public skating is open to all ages and abilities. Get active with friends and family and try a public skate today!

Public Programs at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre and the Ennismore Community Centre will begin October 2025. 

Our drop-in public skating program is a leisurely skate for all ages. This is a great way to spend time with family and friends while being active.

Entry fee for public skating is $3.00 per person, unless the event is sponsored by one of our amazing local businesses!

Our drop-in Parent & Tot Skate offers a slower paced leisurely skate, which provides a safe environment. This is a great way to introduce your child to skating. Parent & Tot Skating begins October 6th, 2025, and runs through to March 27th, 2026.

Our drop-in Senior Skate offers a slower paced leisurely skate for those aged 55+ and is a great way to stay active in the cooler months. Seniors Skating begins October 6th, 2025, and runs through to March 27th, 2026.

Drop-in youth shinny hockey is a great way to play a game of pick-up hockey with friends and family. You are required to wear full equipment during shinny hockey and adult supervision is required.

Every PA Day and snow day at the Ennismore Community Centre.
Cost: $6 per person. Non-contact. Full hockey equipment mandatory. Parental/guardian supervision required while your child is at the Arena.

  • 9:00AM to 10:00AM: Players aged 8 and under
  • 10:00AM to 11:00AM: Players ages 9 to 11
  • 11:00AM to 12 Noon: Players aged 12 and older
