Selwyn Township Receives RTO8 Partnership Funding to Replace Aging Visitor Information Kiosks

June 23, 2025 — The Township of Selwyn is pleased to announce that it has been awarded funding through Regional Tourism Organization 8's (RTO8) Partnership Funding Program to support the revitalization of its visitor information kiosks located in Bridgenorth, Ennismore, and Lakefield.
Installed in 2002, these kiosks served as vital hubs for both visitors and residents, providing maps of the Township and surrounding region, listings of local businesses and services, and community bulletin boards. Over the past two decades, wear and tear and outdated branding have diminished their functionality and visual appeal, with two of the signs removed altogether.
This new project, in partnership with Peterborough County Economic Development & Tourism, will see the revitalization of these kiosks this summer. The new structures will reflect the current branding identity and features:
- Updated Township and regional maps
- Enhanced designs with improved accessibility
- Modern, weather-resistant materials for long-term durability
- Visually engaging layouts showcasing local points of interest, services, and annual events
“The revitalization of these kiosks is a strategic investment in Selwyn’s tourism infrastructure,” said Sherry Senis, Mayor of Selwyn Township. “This project not only supports wayfinding and local exploration for our visitors but also strengthens community pride and promotes local businesses.”
“We are pleased to partner on this project,” said Brenda Wood, Executive Director of RTO8 / Kawarthas Northumberland. “The replacement of these visitor information kiosks will assist in helping visitors navigate the region and encourage them to explore farther, stay longer and spend more of their dollars in our communities.”
By replacing aged infrastructure and ensuring up-to-date and accessible information, the Township aims to enrich the overall visitor experience and further Selwyn's appeal as a destination in the Kawarthas.
