Township of Selwyn Announces Retirement of Manager of Financial Services/Treasurer and Appointment of New Manager
The Township of Selwyn is pleased to announce the retirement of Manager of Financial Services/Treasurer R. Lane Vance and the appointment of Amanda Mellegers, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), as the Township’s new Manager of Financial Services/Treasurer.
After more than 35 years of dedicated service with the Township of Selwyn, Lane Vance will retire effective September 30, 2026. Throughout his career, Lane has provided exceptional financial leadership, helping guide the Township through changing economic conditions while maintaining a strong financial position and delivering value for residents.
Lane's steady leadership helped guide the Township through many budget cycles while maintaining responsible tax rates and long-term financial sustainability. His extensive municipal knowledge, collaborative approach, and commitment to sound financial stewardship have left a lasting impact on the organization.
Following a recruitment process, the Township is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Mellegers, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), as the new Manager of Financial Services/Treasurer, effective August 24, 2026. Amanda’s start date will provide five weeks of overlap with Lane, supporting a seamless transition of responsibilities.
Amanda has more than nine years of leadership experience in financial management, treasury functions, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. Most recently, she served as Director, Finance at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), after advancing through progressively senior finance roles. Prior to PRHC, she progressed from CPA student to a management role at a local accounting firm.
Amanda’s strong financial and accounting background, strategic mindset, proven problem-solving abilities, and collaborative leadership style will be valuable assets to the Township’s Finance Department and broader organization.
Since joining the Township, I have quickly come to appreciate the strong financial foundation that Lane has helped build over more than 35 years of service. His professionalism, sound advice, and collaborative approach have earned the respect of Council and staff and positioned the Township well for the future. I thank Lane for his outstanding contributions and wish him a rewarding retirement. I look forward to working with Amanda as she brings her expertise, leadership, and fresh perspective to the Finance Department and continues the Township’s commitment to responsible financial stewardship.”
