Employment Opportunities

The Township is recruiting to fill the position of Water & Wastewater Operator to maintain the ongoing operations of the Water and Wastewater systems to meet the QMS, DWQMS and SDWA standards along with all other related government legislation. 

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field with a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role. Candidates must hold a current Class 2 Water Treatment license, Class 2 Water Distribution license, Class 1 Wastewater Treatment license and current Class 1 Wastewater Collection license. Candidates with a Water Meter Installers Certificate will be preferred. The successful individual will have a valid Class “G” driver’s license and good working knowledge of Ministry of the Environment policies affecting water and wastewater operations. 

The successful individual will be expected to use initiative, and good judgment in  carrying out the duties of the position. The person must be flexible, adaptable and possess excellent teamwork, cooperation, and communication skills. A proven ability to provide quality customer service while providing service to the public as a representative of the municipality is required.

The present hourly wage for this position is $32.03 to $38.97 based on a 40-hour work week. The position participates in a rotating on-call schedule.

The Township is seeking a Recreation Services Coordinator who will provide administrative support for the Recreation Services department including administration of campground / marina operations, sponsorship and advertising and, facility utilization for the Recreation Department. This position will also support Township Special Events and community groups that provide programming.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field with 3 years related business, customer service or municipal experience. Candidates holding a Recreation and Leisure Services diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.  

The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of recreation programming, services and events as well as experience working with and supporting volunteer organizations.

The person must possess strong and effective customer service skills, excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to write succinct reports. This person will be required to act as a Team Lead and direct the work of part-time/seasonal staff, while using initiative and good judgment in carrying out the duties of the position.

The present hourly wage rate for this position is $32.03 to $38.97 based on a 35-hour work week.

Board and Committee Opportunities

Peterborough County OPP Detachment Board

The Peterborough County OPP Detachment Board is inviting applications for three (3) Community Appointees. This new Board, formed under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, strengthens oversight and governance of OPP services across the County.

As a Community Appointee, you will:

  • Participate in quarterly Board meetings
  • Provide input on local policing priorities
  • Help shape policy and governance decisions
  • Act as a link between the OPP and local communities

Eligible communities: Curve Lake First Nation, Hiawatha First Nation, Township of Asphodel-Norwood, Township of Douro-Dummer, Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, Township of North Kawartha, Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, Township of Selwyn (Smith & Ennismore Wards), Municipality of Trent Lakes.

Appointees receive $100 per meeting + mileage reimbursement.
