PolarFest Returns to Selwyn Township with Fan-Favourite Events

Selwyn Township is gearing up for another unforgettable winter celebration as PolarFest returns January 30 to February 1, bringing residents and visitors together for a weekend of outdoor fun, community spirit, and seasonal traditions across Lakefield, Bridgenorth, and Ennismore.

PolarFest kicks off on Friday, January 30, with the Opening Ceremony and Fireworks at Chemong Lodge in Bridgenorth, beginning at 6:20 p.m. Fireworks will light up the night sky over Chemong Lake at 6:30 p.m., generously presented by Kinsmen Super TV Bingo. Following the fireworks, the popular Guns and Hoses Charity Hockey Game takes place at the Ennismore Community Centre at 7:30 p.m., supporting the Bridgenorth and Lakefield Food Banks.

A highly anticipated highlight for 2026 is the return of the Horse drawn Sleighrides at the Ennismore Community Centre, offered for the first time since 2020. This beloved PolarFest experience invites families to enjoy a scenic winter ride on Saturday, January 31 from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., adding a touch of nostalgia and charm to the weekend festivities.

On Saturday, visitors can also explore stunning ice carvings in Lakefield’s Cenotaph Park and Bridgenorth’s Heritage Park. To help residents move easily between communities, a free PolarFest shuttle bus will operate throughout the day on Saturday, January 31.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday, February 1, with the Frosty 5K Run, and the always-entertaining BEL Rotary Polar Plunge, featuring this year’s retro TV-themed costumes.
