The Township of Selwyn is pleased to announce the return of free Seniors Skating at the Ennismore Community Centre and the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre for the 2026-27 skating season, made possible through the generous support of local sponsors - Swish Maintenance, Blue Diamond Window Cleaning and Hendren Funeral Homes - a Division of Opus Tribute Group.

The Township of Selwyn celebrated the grand re-opening of the arena at the Ennismore Community Centre today, marking the completion of a major renewal project that will help ensure the facility continues to serve the community for years to come.

The grand re-opening brought together residents, community members, local officials and project partners to celebrate the renewed arena. The event included remarks from MPP Dave Smith, Nancy Clark, Director of External Relations for Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) and Township of Selwyn Mayor Sherry Senis, followed by a FREE public skate.

On Friday, MPP Dave Smith was with representatives from the Selwyn Township for the celebration of the official opening of Jude’s Joy Inclusive Playground at Ennismore Waterfront Park. Effective immediately, the Selwyn Fire Department has lifted the Total Burn Ban that was issued on July 16, 2026, due to hazardous air quality caused by smoke from wildfires in Northern Ontario.

With air quality and fire conditions improving, residents may resume open-air burning in accordance with the Township’s Open-Air Burning By-law. Residents are reminded that all burning must be conducted safely and responsibly, and that all requirements outlined in the by-law must be followed. The Township of Selwyn and the Ennismore Shamrock Festival Committee have made the difficult decision to reschedule the Family Fun Day, originally planned for Saturday, July 18, to Sunday, July 19, due to forecasted weather conditions.
