Children's Summer Programming Coordinator

The Selwyn Public Library is seeking a Children's Summer Programming Coordinator who will design, promote, and conduct children’s programming. This is a contract position and is funded in part by the Canada Summer Jobs program. The student must meet requirements of the Summer Jobs program.   

 

Detailed Job Description 

 

12 weeks at 35 hours per week.  (420 hours)    June 6th, 2022 – August 26th, 2022

Normal work week:    Monday-Friday; occasional Saturdays

 

Location of work:  Bridgenorth Library, Lakefield Library, Ennismore Library

Schedule will depend on programming needs.

 

Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay, some mileage reimbursement.

 

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of staff you will:

Design, promote and conduct children’s programming for children ages 4 -10 at all three branches of our library. This will involve story time, crafts, music, STEAM activities or special guests. 

Develop a reading club and programming based on the TD Summer Reading Program that encourages children to pursue recreational reading over the summer.

Develop flyers, displays, Bulletin Boards & visit local elementary schools to promote program.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have experience working with children in a formal setting.

Creativity, initiative, a love of children and books.

Art, drama, or music skills a definite asset.

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

First aid certificate or willingness to acquire by July 1st.

Acceptable Criminal Records check and Vulnerable Sector Search.

Must be between 15 to 30 years at beginning of employment contract.

Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.
