Turn Off the Lights and Hike for Earth Hour - Saturday, March 25, 2023 (beginning at 7:30PM)

The Lakefield Trail Stewardship Committee invites you to Turn Off Your Lights and Hike on the Lakefield Trail for Earth Hour on Saturday, March 25th. Adults and children are invited to join naturalist and teacher Sheila Potter for games and fun while others can watch and listen for signs of spring with biologist Derek Potter, who will share his experiences studying bears, deer, moose and other local wildlife. The hike will start at the Marshland Centre in Lakefield at 7:30pm.

Trail Work Day - Saturday, April 22, 2023 (beginning at 9:00AM)

Meet at the shade shelter at the base of Reid Street at Water Street in Lakefield to start the work. If possible, please bring a shovel, heavy rake and a wheelbarrow. Don't forget working gloves! 

Come lend a hand to help spread limestone screenings and pick up garbage along the Lakefield Trail, and spread mulch around our Native Plant Garden.

Earth Day Hike - Sunday, April 23, 2023

The Lakefield Trail Stewardship Committee invites you to an Earth Day Hike on Sunday, April 23rd. The hike will start at the Marshland Centre in Lakefield.

Native Plant Garden Work Day - Saturday, May 13, 2023 (beginning at 9:00AM) 

Meet at the Service Ontario building at 133 Water Street, Lakefield to start the work. If possible, please bring gardening tools. Garden gloves and a kneeling pad are recommended.

Summer Garden Work Day - Wednesday, June 14, 2023 (beginning at 6:00PM)

Meet at the Service Ontario building at 133 Water Street, Lakefield to start the work. If possible, please bring gardening tools. Garden gloves and a kneeling pad are recommended.

Family Paddle Day - Thursday, June 22, 2023 (beginning at 5:30PM)

The very popular annual Family Paddle Day will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 starting at the Lakefield Beach at 5:30PM. You can bring your own canoe or kayak or use the canoes and kayaks that will be provided by Adventure Outfitters on a first come first served basis. However, we do suggest calling Adventure Outfitters prior to the event to request a canoe or kayak at 705-652-7986.

After paddling around Lake Katchawanooka and around the Marsh, participants are invited to enjoy hot dogs and marshmallows over an open bonfire.

Learn about the Lakefield Trail Committee while shopping in downtown Lakefield! The Committee will have a booth on the main street of Lakefield for you to ask questions, or even sign up!
