Building Inspector 1

The Township is seeking a Building Official 1 to work a 12-month contract. In this position, the successful candidate will provide customer service while managing all aspects of the building permit intake and issuance process. This position is to inspect buildings under construction to ensure compliance and is also expected to provide preliminary application review for completeness, adherence to all applicable law, including the Ontario Building Code Act (OBCAO), its regulations and all other applicable legislation.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education or equivalent in Architecture, Construction, or a related field. A minimum of one-year related experience in a business or municipal setting will be preferred.

Candidates should be a current member or willingness and ability to become a member of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA), as well as be qualified and registered with MMAH in the following categories: General Legal, Small Buildings, HVAC House, Plumbing House. This person will have a good understanding of the principles of urban planning, the Township’s Zoning By-laws, Building Code and other relevant legislation. A good working knowledge of personal computers, data base, GIS, AutoCAD and web-based mapping software, and word processing programs is required.

The person requires superior interpersonal and customer service skills and must act professionally in providing service to the public and as a representative of the municipality.

The expected hourly wage range for this position is $32.03 to $38.97 per hour based on a 35-hour work week.

Deputy Treasurer

As a result of an upcoming retirement, the Township is seeking a Deputy Treasurer who will be responsible for the administration of municipal accounting activities in accordance with the statutory requirements set under applicable legislation and regulations. This position performs a range of finance related duties and completes a variety of financial reporting. In addition, this position provides back up assistance to finance staff as required, specifically for accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable and taxation/utility billing. Working with the Manager of Financial Services, the Deputy Treasurer supports the Township Management Team to ensure efficient and effective operation of the municipality.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in accounting or professional designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or equivalent with 3-5 years of municipal finance related experience in a supervisory capacity. A C.M.O. designation would be considered an asset.

The person must possess excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills. A proven ability to manage several projects simultaneously is a must. This person may be required to direct the work of others in the department, while using good judgment and excellent communication in carrying out the duties of the position.

This person requires strong research and analytical skills, excellent knowledge of regulations and programs pertaining to Municipal government financial management, including the Public Sector Accounting Practices. A strong knowledge of payroll, HST and property tax would be considered an asset.

The present salary range for this position is $89,253 to $108,597 based on a 40-hour work week.
