Lakefield Marina Dock Attendant (Seasonal)

The Township of Selwyn is seeking applications for the seasonal position of Lakefield Marina Dock Attendant, to assist with the daily operations and maintenance of the Lakefield Marina.

The ideal candidate will have at a minimum one year’s experience in a primarily customer service role. Candidates must have the proven ability to handle cash, debit, and credit card payments. Good swimming skills are required. Candidates with lifesaving training and/or certification and current CPR and/or First Aid certification will be preferred. Candidates may be required to obtain a Food Safety Training Certificate if they haven’t already successfully completed a course.

Applicants with knowledge of the Trent-Severn Waterway and the boating/marina industry will be preferred. The individual will be expected to work as a member of a small team, while using initiative and good judgment in carrying out the duties of the position. The person must demonstrate initiative and possess excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

The person requires superior interpersonal skills and customer focus and must act professionally in providing service to the public and as a representative of the municipality. 

The rate of pay for this position is $18.00/hour and the typical work week will be between 24-35 hours. This position will require candidates to be available for weekend and day & evening shifts throughout the season starting early May through mid-October 2024.

Water & Wastewater Operator (2 positions available)

The Township is recruiting to fill two (2) Water & Wastewater Operator positions to maintain the ongoing operations of the Water and Wastewater systems to meet the QMS, DWQMS and SDWA standards along with all other related government legislation.

The ideal candidates will have a post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field with a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role. Candidates must hold a current Class 2 Water Treatment license, Class 2 Wastewater Treatment license and current Class 2 Wastewater Collection license.  Candidates with a Water Meter Installers Certificate will be preferred. The successful individuals will have a valid Class “G” driver’s license and good working knowledge of Ministry of the Environment policies affecting water and wastewater operations.

The successful individuals will be expected to use initiative, and good judgment in carrying out the duties of the position. The person must be flexible, adaptable and possess excellent teamwork, cooperation, and communication skills. A proven ability to provide quality customer service while providing service to the public as a representative of the municipality is required. 

The present hourly wage for this position is $29.95 to $36.45 based on a 40-hour work week.
