Weekend Long Events to Enjoy!
"Snowman" Challenge

If you think you can build the best snowman in Selwyn Township, then the "Snowman" Challenge is for you! A prize will be awarded to the best, most creative "snowman" - and they don't have to be made from snow! Make sure your "snowman" is ready for PolarFest weekend and take a picture of your awesome "snowman" and upload to Facebook. Be sure to add #snowmanchallenge and #polarfest to your post.

Don't have Facebook? No problem, email your photo to the Parks & Recreation Department.

4th Annual Lakefield Hot Chocolate Festival

From February 1st to 23rd, warm up with delicious, decadent hot chocolate at participating cafes, restaurants and merchants in Lakefield. Watch the Lakefield Village Lions Club Facebook page for a list of participating locations and how to vote for your favourite! 

Proceeds from every cup purchased will help support important community organizations and families in need.

Lakefield Snowflake Sale

Enjoy in-store specials at various retail locations within the Village of Lakefield throughout PolarFest weekend! Look for a snowflake in the window of participating locations!

PolarFest Specials & Activities at Canoe & Paddle and Stuff'd

Canoe & Paddle and Stuff'd will be hosting a variety of PolarFest activities and offering PolarFest-themed treats all weekend long! These include a Snowman Treasure Hunt, as well as restaurant specials including breakfast specials, rib specials, Hot Toddy specials, and hot chocolate specials. Fondue Friday (All-Day)

Location: Lakeside at Chemong Lodge at 764 Hunter Street, Bridgenorth

Fondue Friday kicks off for the 3rd year with authentic swiss cheese fondue and wine features, just in time to warm you up as the colder weather rolls in. Youth Shinny (9:00AM to 12 Noon)

Location: Ennismore Community Centre at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

  • 9-10am - ages 9 and under
  • 10-11am - ages 10 to 13
  • 11-12 Noon - ages 13 and older

Cost: $6.00 per player

Non-contact. Full hockey equipment is mandatory. Parental/guardian supervision required while your child is at the Arena.

Fancy Nancy Snow Day (10:30AM to 11:30AM)

Location: Lakefield Library Centennial Room at 8 Queen Street, Lakefield

Stories, games and a craft you can eat, served with "tea". 

Children must attend with a caregiver. Register in advance.

Do You Want to Craft a Snowman? (1:30PM to 2:30PM)

Location: Lakefield Library Centennial Room at 8 Queen Street, Lakefield

Use your art skills to create snowman crafts with various materials. 

Children 8 and under must attend with a caregiver. Register in advance.

Knockout Darts Competition (6:00PM to 10:00PM)

Location: Canoe & Paddle at 18 Bridge Street, Lakefield 

Try your hand at darts in a knockout-style tournament hosted by the Canoe & Paddle. To register, visit the Canoe & Paddle Facebook page or register in-person at the Canoe & Paddle.

Opening Ceremony & Fireworks (6:30PM)

Location: Lakeside at Chemong Lodge at 764 Hunter Street, Bridgenorth

Help kick off the 17th Anniversary of PolarFest! Join us at the Opening Ceremony where Supernova Fireworks has kindly sponsored an epic fireworks show! While you're there, enjoy a bonfire, hot chocolate and coffee courtesy of our gracious hosts Chemong Lodge. Fireworks will be lit at 6:45PM!

Be sure to book your reservations for Chemong Lodge's Fondue Friday!

Lakefield Trail Night Hike (beginning at 7:00PM)

Location: Marshland Centre at 64 Hague Boulevard, Lakefield

Join the Lakefield Trail Stewardship Committee for the Nature in Winter Guided Night Hike on the Lakefield Trail. Hikers will meet at 7:00PM the Marshland Centre to begin their hike. Afterwards, enjoy hot apple cider!

Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game (8:00PM to 9:30PM)

Location: Ennismore Community Centre at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

Watch your local Police Officers take on the Selwyn Firefighters in a friendly charity hockey game.

Admission by non-perishable food donation or cash donation. Proceeds will be split between the Lakefield Food Bank and the Bridgenorth Food Bank.

Lakefield Ice Sculpture Competition (9:00AM to 4:00PM)

Location: Cenotaph Park at the corner of Water Street and Bridge Street in Lakefield

Cenotaph Park will sparkle with exquisite ice sculptures created by talented chefs. This year's theme is "Canadiana". Cast your ballot for the People's Choice Award between 9:00AM and 3:00PM! Hang on to your ballot stub, it's a valuable discount coupon. Bring the kids out and build a creation using the coloured blocks provided. 

The People's Choice Award will be presented at 5:00PM at The Loon (150 Queen Street, Lakefield). 

Drive-thru Pancake Breakfast (9:00AM to 11:00AM)

Location: Causeway Christian Assembly at 1307 Yankee Line, Ennismore

Come out and enjoy a FREE drive-thru pancake breakfast at the Causeway Christian Assembly located at the top of the hill above the causeway. Event is FREE but donations are welcome. 

Ice Sculptures in Bridgenorth (beginning 10:00AM)

Location: Heritage Park at 804 Ward Street, Bridgenorth

There will be a number of carvers present in Heritage Park using cultured ice to create sculpture for all to enjoy! Bring the kids out and build a creation using the coloured blocks provided. 

The Chemung Lake District Lions Club and the Bridgenorth Beautification Committee (BBC) will be on-site giving out hot chocolate!

Beavertails (10:00AM to 6:00pm)

Location: Ennismore Community Centre at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

The ever-popular Beavertails food truck will be joining us and serving up their famous pastries for PolarFest weekend!

Snowman Breakfast (10:00AM to 11:00AM)

Location: Canoe & Paddle at 18 Bridge Street, Lakefield 

Enjoy a fun family breakfast, along with a wide variety of other specials at both the Canoe & Paddle and Stuff'd. 

PolarFest Scavenger Hunt (10:00AM to 2:00PM)

Location: Bridgenorth Library at 836 Charles Street, Bridgenorth

The library penguins have escaped their books! Can you help us find them? Visit the Bridgenorth Library to get a hunt sheet, find the penguins and be entered into a special draw for a polar-themed prize! (All ages)

PolarFest Drop-In (10:00AM to 2:00PM)

Location: Selwyn Public Library Makerspace at 1 Bridge Street, Lakefield

SPL Makerspace will be open for tours, machine demos, and Q&A. Simple family activities will be available highlighting some of our machines! All ages welcome. Drop-in and say hello.

Maple Taffy (11:00AM to 4:00PM)

Location: Stuff'd at 18 Bridge Street, Lakefield 

Enjoy handmade maple taffy outside at Stuff'd in Lakefield. While you're there, enjoy a wide variety of specials next door at the Canoe & Paddle including Breakfast Specials, Hot Toddys, and Hot Chocolate!

Winter Craft & Hot Chocolate (11:00AM to 2:00PM)

Location: Ennismore Optimist Hall (under the Ennismore Library) at 553 Ennis Road, Ennismore

The Ennismore Youth Group will be leading participants through a winter craft, paired with hot chocolate to enjoy!

Nordic Day (12 Noon to 3:00PM)

Location: Ontario Speed Skating Oval at 3358 Lakefield Road, Lakefield

Adventure Outfitters will be providing those interested the opportunity to experience a variety of Nordic Winter Sports.

Stop by Adventure Outfitters located at 1828 8th Line, Lakefield and staff will fit you in the proper equipment. Head over to the speed skating oval and enjoy the trail that has been groomed for Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing adjacent to the Oval site. Try your hand at speed skating while you are there!

80s Retro Apres Ski Party (12 Noon to 4:00PM)

Location: Lakeside at Chemong Lodge at 764 Hunter Street, Bridgenorth

Enjoy 80's & 90's tunes at the Chemong Lodge Retro Apres Ski Party, featuring an ice bar and booze luge. Wear your best throwback ski gear for a complimentary beverage! Prizes for best dressed!

Public Skating (12 Noon to 1:00PM)

Location: Lakefield-Smith Community Centre at 20 Concession Street, Lakefield

Polar Paddle (1:00PM)

Location: Queen Street, Lakefield

What better way to see Queen Street in Lakefield than riding in a canoe powered by your friends with the community cheering you on. Put a team together and register for the event. Trophy and prizes will be awarded to the winner of each division.

*Note: canoes will be provided.

Winter Olympic Party (1:00PM)

Location: Lakefield Legion Branch 77 at 10 Nicholls Street, Lakefield 

Put together a team of 4 to play some fun low-key Winter Olympics! Cost: $5.00 per person to play. Prizes to be won!

On site, there will also be a BBQ (chili dogs and poutine), indoor music by the ever popular George Terpstra, Jeannie's martini party, and a Meat Draw & Share the Wealth at 4:00PM. 

Storytelling (2:00PM to 3:00PM)

Location: Canoe & Paddle at 18 Bridge Street, Lakefield 

Enjoy storytelling at the Canoe & Paddle, as well as a variety of specials at both Canoe & Paddle and next door at Stuff'd.

Spaghetti Dinner (4:30PM to 7:00PM)

Location: Bridgenorth United Church at 832 Charles Street, Bridgenorth 

Join Bridgenorth United Church at the PolarFest Spaghetti Dinner, which will include musical entertainment from The Tarnished Angels!

Cost: $13.00 per person. FREE for children aged 6 or under. 

Ice Ball - Ticketed Event (5:00PM to 11:00PM)

Location: Lakefield Legion Branch 77 at 10 Nicholls Street, Lakefield 

Chill and dance the night away at Ice Ball, featuring live music, icy cocktails, charcuterie and canapes by The Cheesy Fromage and Angle Iron Kitchen!

Location: Canoe & Paddle at 18 Bridge Street, Lakefield

Antique & Vintage Snowmobile Show (10:00AM to 3:00PM)

Location: Rotary Park at 1495 Yankee Line, Ennismore

The Antique and Classic Snowmobile Club of Canada will have a display of snowmobiles from days gone by at Rotary Park in Ennismore. All vintage snowmobile enthusiasts are welcome to come out and display their snowmobiles. All snowmobiles welcome!

Turkey Bowling & Outdoor Jenga (11:00AM to 4:00PM)

Location: Canoe & Paddle at 18 Bridge Street, Lakefield 

Try your hand at turkey bowling and outdoor Jenga at the Canoe & Paddle. Free for participants!

While you're there, enjoy a wide variety of specials including breakfast specials, rib specials, Hot Toddy specials, and hot chocolate specials. Lake Curling at Plunge Site (12 Noon to 4:00PM)

Location: Rotary Park at 1495 Yankee Line, Ennismore

Want to try curling? Here is the perfect opportunity to try it out on Chemong Lake! The Ennismore Curling Club will have curling stones ready to use, test your luck and see if you can get the closest for a chance to win a prize!

Polar Plunge (beginning at 2:00PM)

Location: Rotary Park at 1495 Yankee Line, Ennismore

Take the plunge in support of local charities and the BEL Rotary club! This year's theme is “Barbie.Raise money for your favorite charity and the work of BEL Rotary. As in previous years, all donations will be a 50/50 split.
