A Public meeting was held on March 25, 2025 at 1:30 PM to consider an amendment to the Township’s Development Charges (D.C.) By-laws to include:

  • Reduction of the D.C. rate freeze timelines for developments proceeding through Site Plan or Zoning By-law Amendment applications, from within 12 years of issuance of building permit since application approval, to within 18 months; and
  • Addition of a definition for park model trailers; specifying that park model trailers will be charged at the 1-bedroom and bachelor apartment D.C. rate; and modifying D.C. redevelopment credit provisions to account for park model trailers.

Participation in the Public Meeting

Any person may attend the public meeting, either in-person or virtually, and make written and/or oral submissions either in support or opposition to the proposal. In order to make arrangements to attend virtually please contact the Clerk by email at
achittick@selwyntownship.ca no later than 4:00 PM on the day prior to the scheduled public meeting. It is the responsibility of those interested in attending virtually to have the technology in place to connect to the meeting.

** Any specified person or public body may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal in respect of the Development Charges By-law(s) by filing with the Clerk of the Township of Selwyn not later than 12 Noon on June 2nd, 2025, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the By-Law(s) and the reasons in support of the objection; together with the applicable fee made payable to the Minister of Finance.  A copy of an appeal form is available from the Ontario Land Tribunal’s website at https://olt.gov.on.ca/appeals-process/forms/. If you wish to request a fee reduction for an appeal, forms are available from the OLT website at www.olt.gov.on.ca.

No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal unless, before the By-law was passed, the person or public body made oral submissions at a public meeting or written submissions to the Council or, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party. 

Take notice that an appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal in respect to all or part of these Amendments to the Development Charges By-law(s) may also be made by filing a notice of appeal with the Clerk via the Ontario Land Tribunal e-file service (first-time users will need to register for a My Ontario Account) at https://olt.gov.on.ca/e-file-service by selecting Selwyn Township as the Approval Authority no later than 12 Noon on June 2nd, 2025.
